The Smoking Room Co. began with a simple idea: a private cigar lounge should do more than look good. It should work.
Airflow, smoke containment, temperature, materials, layout, and comfort all have to work together. Get one of them wrong, and even a beautiful room can become frustrating to use.
We learned that by building, testing, adjusting, and actually living with the room.
That experience became The Smoking Room Co.
The Origin
It Started With One Room.
When founder Chris Strother set out to create a residential cigar lounge and podcast studio, there wasn't a blueprint to follow.
The challenge was unusually specific: create a room comfortable enough for hours of cigar smoking, prevent smoke from migrating into the rest of the home, maintain its own temperature, function as a professional recording environment, and still feel like a place people genuinely wanted to spend time.
So the room became a laboratory.
Ideas were researched. Systems were tested. Airflow was adjusted. Materials and equipment were changed when they didn't perform as expected. And week after week, the room was put to the test in real-world conditions.
Today, it's home to Sunday Afternoon Smokes, where guests regularly spend hours in the space. More importantly, it proved something:
A smoking room doesn't have to be a compromise.

The same philosophy applies to any room with a purpose.
The lessons that shaped the original lounge led to something broader.
The Smoking Room Co. designs private smoking rooms, podcast studios, and specialty lounges for homeowners and businesses who want a space built intentionally around how they'll actually use it.
Sometimes that means transforming an existing room. Other times it means working alongside a homeowner and their builder while a new home or space is still being planned.
Either way, the goal remains the same
Create a room where function, comfort, and atmosphere work together.
